Why Service Your Mechanical Watch? |
- Your watch "ticks" 432,000 times a day.
- Your watch "travels" (combined distance of moving parts) 3,600 seconds a year
- Your watch marks 86,400 seconds every day.
- Your watch has a balance wheel which vibrates on a spiral hairspring.
The speed of a balance vibrating at a frequency of 28,800 times per hour
is equivalent to a car going 87 mph.
- And because your watch, like your car, runs up a lot of mileage,
it needs regular service.
Proper service includes the following:
- Complete disassembly and ultrasonic cleaning of the movement to
remove any accumulation of foreign matter.
- Inspection and replacement of any damaged or worn parts.
- Complete lubrication of the movement, to replace the tiny deposits of oil
that dry up after a period of time.
- Electronic regulation of the watch's timekeeping.
- Computer resealing of water resistant watches.
